Elpida is a Greek commercial vessel that was sunk in December 2019 to create an artificial reef. In translation, Elpida means Hope. The length of this vessel is 63 meters, the lowest part is at 28 meters.
Before sinking, almost all elements were removed from the ship, including windows, for a comfortable passage inside the ship.
The multi-tiered structure of the ship contributes to an interesting dive – you can go inside at 10 meters into the captain’s bridge, where steering wheel is still intact, and then go down the staircases to the very bottom of the ship.
There are still engines in the engine room, although they are located quite compactly in the compartment, so there is room for maneuver there, but it is limited.
In addition, in front of the captain’s bridge outside there is a large nameplate explaining the purpose and details of the submersion of the vessel.
This is an interesting wreck, quite simple and, most importantly, safe, taking into account the fact that it was submerged quite recently and the ship had not yet had time to rust.
